Forbidden Flavours

February 17th, 2005 · 1 Comment

So it occurred to me today that I am in a 98% Muslim country and that the availability of bacon-flavoured potato chips runs pretty high around here. (I am the proud new owner of a tube of Bacon Pringles.)

Does this mean that bacon chips are OK? Maybe the flavouring is not from bacon (kind of like those awful bacon bits made from soy or something that you see in cheapo restaurants).

This gets me to thinking that there might be a potential market for forbidden-food flavoured snack foods. Coffee flavour for Mormons. Beer flavour for Bible College students. Beef flavour in India. Meat flavour for vegetarians. Capitalist flavour for Saskatchewan. You’re getting the idea.

Sleep on it and tell me if it’s still crazy in the morning.
