Our drive eastward to Maradi was split in two. The first day, we drove to Galmi, stopping to visit a school project at Mailo. Most of the pictures here are of the Mailo school visit. The school had 24 students between the ages of 4 and 6 and was made of straw. The students built it themselves. Next to the school, a new mud brick school has now been partially constructed.
We presented each student with a small package of school supplies and a balloon. The balloons were a big hit.

Yeah! You got to see the giraffes. I hear all your bags came, hopefully in time to get your work done. One wonders how fast that truck was going that he lost control and flipped it?
